The COWS NXi uses X-Plane's built-in navdata and an open-source TAWS-B simulation so you can see what's around you. From avoiding terrain to seeing what airspace you're in. You won't get lost. All of the displayed information is configurable so you can change what you see and how far you can see it!

Navigation

The COWS NXi simulates the entire GNSS satellite constellation as well as the available SBAS systems (EGNOS, WAAS, MSAS). The constellations are updated in real time and use real world GPS almanac data to calculate the satellite positions. Each GPS receiver can be failed individually and SBAS can be toggled on or off - make sure you're in the corresponding SBAS's coverage area. RAIM and prediction availability is modelled.

Built from the ground up, the COWS NXi comes with a fully custom Flight Management System. Matching the real unit's behaviour as closely as possible, it can support RNP RF legs and has been stress tested against an extensive list of some 'interesting' procedures across the globe that are know to trip up some FMSes.

The COWS NXi utilises the library "libradio" to simulate the operation of the navigation radios. Introducing errors to the received signals that aren't seen with X-Plane's built-in radios. With features such as properly simulated morse-code idents that get distorted with signal strength, ADF dip errors and terrain masking. Each individual radio receiver can be failed and the COWS NXi will respond accordingly.

The Engine Instruments can be customised to match the aircraft you're simulating. You can feed the COWS NXi the required engine data however you want, implementing failing of specific sensors or updating the values at specific refresh rates.

Options

Build it.

Everything in the COWS NXi can be configured. Crew profiles can be created for specific airframes, with the ability to define which optional equipment is available. Settings are remembered between sessions, and are saved on a per-airframe basis. You can use the COWS NXi how you want, and it'll remember where you left off.
